The Cypress is a slender, pyramidal tree, about fifty meters high, with exceptional longevity. Commonly depicted in the Mediterranean basin, it appears in many cultures as a symbol of eternal life. The essential oil is extracted from its very small dark green leaves.
Cypress essential oil is used in case of circulation problems, for excessive sweating and also for dry cough.
Cupressus sempervirens Botanical family: Cupressaceae Distilled part: foliated branch Chemotype: α pinene, δ 3-carene, cedrol
Circulation: heavy legs and drainage
The evergreen cypress is known for its venous and lymphatic decongestant action. It is particularly appreciated to accompany periods of heavy legs, water retention and "light leg" massage routines.
Excessive sweating
Regulating, the essential oil of cypress is traditionally used to help reduce excessive sweating (armpits, feet), in well-dosed body care.
Breathing: dry cough
In aromatherapy, cypress is also described as antitussive and useful in support during dry or spasmodic coughs, short diffusion or diluted massage (except contraindications).
Oral (one-off use – adult)
According to the manufacturer’s recommendations, take at most 1 drop, 3 times a day, diluted in a teaspoon of honey, vegetable oil or sugar. Do not exceed 2 weeks of intake and never use pure or diluted in water.
In massage (circulation / light legs)
Dilute in a vegetable oil (arnica, calophyll, apricot kernel...) then massage in upward movements. This use is ideal in synergy with other "circulation" essential oils (e.g., lentisque pistachier, Italian helichrysum) while respecting the dosages.
On air (cool atmosphere)
Diffuse in short sessions (10 minutes) in an airy room, alone or with citrus fruits (lemon, grapefruit) for a fresh and toned atmosphere.
Keep out of reach of children. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Not recommended during pregnancy and lactation and for children under 6 years old. In case of accidental absorption, consult a doctor or contact a poison control center. Seek advice from a healthcare professional.
