Product Indications To treat ailments of the oropharynx, including sore throat, hoarseness, laryngitis and pharyngitis. Seek medical advice if your develop a fever or shaking, or if your general condition changes unexpectedly. Your treatment options will need to be modified. Directions for Use For rectal insertion. For adult use only. Dosage 1 suppository, administered 3 times a day. Ingredients Active Ingredients Per suppository (2 g): Guaifenesin – 200.0 mg Bismuth sub-succinate – 80.0 mg – of which bismuth: 71.1 mg Eucalyptol – 120.0 mg Excipient: Solid semi-synthetic glycerides (Suppocire BCM®) Precautions for Use – If you experience no improvement within 5 days, consult your doctor. – If you have a history of epilepsy, consult your doctor prior to use. Warnings– Contains terpene derivatives. Excessive use on babies and children can cause convulsions and similar neurological disorders. – Do not exceed the recommended dose or length of treatment (see above). Contra-indications Do NOT use if you have poor kidney function. Interactions with Other MedicinesCombining medicines can be dangerous. If you are currently taking any other medicines, consult your doctor or pharmacist prior to use. Pregnancy and Breast-Feeding– If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using any form of medicine. – Use while breast-feeding is not recommended. Possible Side Effects As with other medicines, Pholcones suppositories may have undesirable effects on the body. Some people are more resistant than others. Potential adverse effects include: – (due to the presence of guaifenesin) stomach pain, nausea and vomiting; – (in elderly people: due to the presence of terpene derivatives, or if recommended dose is exceeded) restlessness and confusion.
