Spontaneous in Madagascar, the Ravintsara is a tree with dark green leaves from the laurel family. The essential oil of Ravintsara is obtained from steam distillation of the leaves of the camphor tree. The essential oil is colorless and has a characteristic eucalyptol smell. It is very popular in aromatherapy because of its milder action than that of the eucalyptus.
The essential oil of Ravintsara is known for its antiviral, immunostimulating, expectorant, antitussive, astringent and antibacterial properties.
