Patchouli is a grass less than 1 meter high, with large oval, opposite and toothed leaves. The young patchouli leaves are fermented and dried before being distilled. Patchouli was once used to perfume linens and clothing. Beliefs attributed mystical powers to it. Today, the essential oil is used in aromatherapy, as well as a raw material for cosmetics and perfumery.
Patchouli essential oil is known for its venous and lymphatic decongestant, digestive, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, healing, anti-infectious and astringent properties.
