HAIMA is used for the reduction of heavy menstruation and should only be used if your cycles are regular, lasting 21 to 35 days with individual variability less than or equal to 3 days.
It contains tranexamic acid, which prevents the action of the enzyme that dissolves blood clots. This decreases the volume and duration of blood loss.
Usage Tips
The recommended dose is 1 sachet 3 times daily for as long as needed up to 4 days (1 sachet every 6-8 hours).
In case of very heavy menstruation, the dosage may be increased.
The total dose should not exceed 4g per day (4 sachets). HAIMA treatment should not be started before menstruation occurs.
Coated pellets can be taken with a glass of water.
Talk to your doctor before taking HAIMA if any of the following applies to you: · Your cycles are irregular. · You have already had a blood clot and your parents and/or siblings have already had a blood clot.· You had blood in your urine between periods. · You have severe kidney failure. If your period is heavy while using a combined hormonal contraceptive (pill, vaginal ring or patch), you should consult your healthcare professional before taking tranexamic acid. Certain diseases of the uterus, such as myoma or polyps, can explain the onset of heavy periods. If they are managed, menstrual flow may decrease. In case of doubt, consult your gynaecologist. Regular gynecological monitoring is recommended.
Pregnancy and lactation: HAIMA is indicated for repeated heavy menstrual periods and is not intended for use during pregnancy. An adverse effect in the breastfed infant seems unlikely at therapeutic doses. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice if you are breastfeeding.
