Oxomemazine - Sugar-Free Dry Cough Syrup - Humex - 150 ml

Description

HUMEX DRY COUGH OXOMEMAZINE 0.33 mg/ml SUGAR-FREE, oral solution sweetened with acesulfame potassium, is a cough suppressant belonging to the phenothiazine neuroleptic antihistamine family. It counteracts the effects of histamine, particularly on the bronchial tubes.

It is recommended for relieving dry coughs and irritating coughs in adults and children over 2 years of age, particularly when they occur in the evening or at night.

You should consult your doctor if you do not feel any improvement or if you feel worse after a few days.

Directions for use

This medicine is for adults and children over 2 years of age.

For adults and children weighing over 40 kg (i.e. 12 years of age): the usual dose is 10 ml per dose, 4 times a day.

For children aged 2 to 12 years: the daily dose depends on your child's weight:

- Children weighing 13 to 20 kg (aged 2 to 6 years): the dose is 5 ml of oral solution per dose, 2 to 3 times a day.

- Children weighing 20 to 30 kg (aged 6 to 10 years): the dose is 10 ml of oral solution per dose, 2 to 3 times a day.

- Children weighing 30 to 40 kg (aged 10 to 12): the dose is 10 ml of oral solution per dose, 3 to 4 times a day.

Doses should only be repeated if necessary, and should be spaced at least 4 hours apart.

This medicine may cause drowsiness. It is preferable to take HUMEX DRY COUGH OXOMEMAZINE 0.33 mg/ml SUGAR-FREE, oral solution sweetened with acesulfame potassium in the evening.

Precautions for use

- If the cough persists despite using HUMEX DRY COUGH OXOMEMAZINE 0.33 mg/ml SUGAR-FREE, an oral solution sweetened with acesulfame potassium, do not increase the dose. Consult your doctor. Coughing is a symptom that can have various causes: respiratory infections, bronchitis, flu, allergies, asthma, whooping cough (infectious disease), irritation, etc. In addition, smoking aggravates or maintains coughing.

- There are two types of cough: dry coughs and productive coughs. You should not treat a productive cough with this medicine. A productive cough is a natural defence mechanism necessary for the elimination of bronchial secretions (phlegm).

- If your cough becomes productive with congestion, expectoration or fever, seek medical advice.

- Do not try to treat a productive cough by combining this medicine with a medicine for productive coughs.

- Cases of abuse and dependence have been reported with oxomemazine, so be alert to any signs of misuse or dependence on this treatment.

- You must not expose yourself to sunlight or ultraviolet rays (UVA) during treatment.

- This medicine should be used with caution due to the risk of drowsiness. Combination with other sedative medicines is not recommended (see section ‘Other medicines and HUMEX DRY COUGH OXOMEMAZINE 0.33 mg/ml SUGAR-FREE, oral solution sweetened with acesulfame potassium’).
