Description

This medicine is indicated for the treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which causes heartburn, acid reflux and heartburn.

Directions for use

1 sachet 3 times a day after the 3 main meals and possibly in the evening at bedtime. This dosage may be doubled in cases of severe reflux or oesophageal inflammation.

This medicine must be taken orally. Knead the sachet well before opening.

Composition

- The active ingredients are :

sodium alginate........................................................................................................... 500.00 mg

sodium bicarbonate..................................................................................................... 267.00 mg

per 10ml sachet.

- The other components are :

calcium carbonate, carbomer (974P), sodium saccharin, sodium methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), sodium propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), peppermint essential oil, sodium hydroxide, purified water.

Precautions for use

This medicine contains calcium. Each sachet contains 160 mg calcium carbonate. Precautions should be taken in patients who suffer or have suffered from severe kidney disease.

As a precaution, VIATRIS SODIUM ALGINATE/BICARBONATE should be taken 2 hours apart from other medicines. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or may take any other medicines.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

VIATRIS SODIUM ALGINATE/BICARBONATE 500 mg/267 mg, Oral suspension in sachet may be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
