Medicinal products for acid disorders, Proton pump inhibitors, ATC code: A02BC02.
Pantoprazole EG Conseil 20 mg contains an active substance, pantoprazole, which reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach by blocking the ‘proton pump’. It therefore reduces the amount of acid in your stomach.
Pantoprazole EG Conseil 20 mg is used for the short-term treatment of symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (e.g. heartburn, acid regurgitation) in adults.
Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the oesophagus, which can become inflamed and painful. This can cause symptoms such as a burning sensation in the chest going up to the throat (pyrosis) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).
Acid reflux and heartburn may disappear after one day's treatment with Pantoprazole EG Conseil 20 mg. However, this medicine is not intended to provide immediate relief. It may be necessary to continue treatment for 2 or 3 consecutive days for symptoms to improve.
You should contact your doctor if you do not feel any improvement or if you feel less well after 2 weeks.
The recommended dose is one tablet a day. Do not exceed this recommended dose of 20 mg pantoprazole per day.
