The scent of marjoram essential oil is similar to that of thyme. The marjoram with shells, or "marjoram of the gardens", is native to the east of the Mediterranean basin (Cyprus, Egypt, Turkey), it supports arid lands and is cultivated up to 2000 meters of altitude.

The pinkish flowers of this small perennial plant are found grouped in the axils of the terminal leaves and enclosed by a shell-shaped bract, hence its name. Its euphoric aroma earns it a place of choice in the kitchen.
Soothing and relaxing, it acts against mood disorders or dissipating fatigue. It is an effective aid for quitting smoking, as it wards off anxiety, irritability and bulimia. Anti-infectious and fungicide, it treats respiratory pathologies or fungal infections, facilitates difficult digestions, calms rheumatic pains but also obsessive sexual ardor. It is beneficial to hypertensives.

Olfactory atmosphere: alone or in a mixture, by evaporation under gentle controlled heat
Atmospheric diffusion: mixed in a diffuser by nebulization
Cutaneous route: in dilution, 5 to 30% in vegetable oil
Oral route: diluted in a little edible oil, on medical or pharmacy advice. Usually 1 drop twice a day
Dry inhalation: 1 to 2 drops on a handkerchief
Wet inhalation: 2 drops in a bowl of hot water
Anxiety, grief : punctually place 2 or 3 drops of marjoram essential oil on the inside of the wrists, the solar plexus and along the spine, 4 times a day.
Abdominal pain : 2 drops of shell marjoram essential oil on a neutral tablet, a sugar or in 1 teaspoon of sweet almond vegetable oil. And for 20 days before meals in case of chronic pain.
Transient benign hypertension, Stress : massage the solar plexus morning and evening for 10 days with 5 drops of marjoram essential oil and as much jojoba vegetable oil
