Children's Glycerin Suppository - Gilbert - Constipation - Box of 10

Indication

The child glycerin suppository is a laxative administered rectally. It triggers a contraction of the rectum which allows the evacuation of stools. It is used in the treatment of constipation, especially when the stool accumulates in the rectum and repeated pushes do not allow it to be evacuated. It is also used to prepare the rectum before an endoscopic examination (proctoscopy).

How to take this medicine

Method of administration Rectal route. Dosage The laxative effect occurs after a delay of 5 to 30 minutes. Adult: 1 Adult suppository per day, to be renewed within the following hour in the event of stubborn constipation. Child: 1 Child suppository per day, to be renewed within the following hour in the event of rebellious constipation. Infant: 1 or 2 infant suppositories per day. Duration of the treatment

Glycerol: 1.25 g (for one suppository) Active substance: Glycerol Excipients: Purified water, Gelatin

Precautions for use

Laxatives administered rectally should not be used for prolonged periods without medical advice: they risk preventing the normal stool expulsion reflex. Precautions are necessary in the person suffering from hemorrhoids, anal fissure or ulcerative colitis

Pregnancy and breast feeding

This medication can be used on an ad hoc basis to treat constipation in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
